I just don’t want the default theme that came in with PHPMyAdmin they are huge and my eyes hurt when I look at them. If you are like me that doesn’t want to take extra step to develop themes and just want to have it appear smaller then this procedure is for you.
- Got to http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/downloads.php?themes and download your selected themes there
- Unzip it to c:\<path to xampp> \phpmyadmin\themes
- Reload PhpMyAdmin or refresh if you are still using IE by now. :D
- Choose your theme in the home page of phpMyAdmin mine is at http://localhost:8080/phpmyadmin
Enjoy!

In my opinion, those other themes are not much of an improvement. Don’t get me wrong, PhpMyAdmin is by far the best webbased tool there is, but those themes look just terrible. You can do so much more with CSS/Html and still keep it fast and simple…
“Making a phpmyadmin theme that rocks your socks off” is one of the things on my “todolist before I die” :)
